Jim Fixed It For Me

Laurence Clark tours hard-hitting and riotous new comedy show about living with cerebral palsy and his much regretted appearance on a now defunct BBC children's TV show

In 1990, teenager Laurence Clark reluctantly appeared on Jim'll Fix It. Over a decade and a half later, with the spectre of Mr Saville still haunting his dreams, Laurence has decided it's time to look back at his past, recounting stories about telling his host to get lost on TV and his experiences on the show, alongside recalling being taken to Lourdes, through to the more modern-day challenges of using urinals when in a wheelchair and the biggest challenge for any man - becoming a father.

Heavy on the comedy, Jim Fixed It For Me is also an insight into growing up as a disabled person in this so-called PC generation.

Stand-up routines about real life sit alongside short video sketches which send up the tragic portrayal of disabled people in TV documentaries.

Laurence is probably best known right now for his 2005 tête-à-tête with Cherie Blair, about Laurence being a "sit-down comic". This 30-second exchange was enough for Laurence to get his face splashed across every tabloid in the country.

That may be how he is best known for now, but it won't be for long, as Laurence is set to take the country by storm with his outspoken, thought-provoking and often hilarious views, ensuring both his message and his jokes have an equal footing in what promises to be an entertaining and thought-provoking evening.

"He's such an astute, piercing and funny commentator. You feel he could tackle any topic - he wouldn't be out of place on Have I Got News For You."
Steve Bennett, Chortle

"Not since Robert Newman have I seen a comic who made me think so much and realise I knew so little. Go. Think. Laugh."
Kate Copstick, The Scotsman

In the run-up to his Edinburgh show, Laurence will be performing the following dates:

7 May: Little Theatre, Wells
1 July: Windsor Arts Centre
7 July: Swindon Arts Centre
8 July: Ipswich Corn Exchange
18 July: Liverpool Comedy Festival
20-22 July: Soho Theatre
26-27 July: Ustinov Studio, Theatre Royal Bath
